We know and appreciate that many of you count on us for an important part of your flight training and safety. We appreciate your trust and never take for granted the fact that you have choices about where to place your flight training dollars.
Instrument Rating Course
AFIT is not a flight school—our specialty is instrument
training.
In this 10-day Instrument Rating Course you will receive 40 to 50 hours training in your aircraft and 20 to 30 hours of oral training on charts, weather, and IFR systems and regulations. The IFR course consists of 8 to 10 hours per day, which are divided between flight and classroom time. Your training is based on strategic instruction, so that you fully understand each lesson and gradually build your knowledge each day. You are trained not only to pass the PTS requirements, but also to be a proficient and confident Instrument Pilot. You will be trained in all the latest avionics: GPS, HIS, MFD, Glass Panel, as well as all back up. Whenever possible, you will be trained in actual IMC conditions. We believe it is important to experience actual IFR during training. AFIT will set up the examiner and check ride for the end of your training.
Prerequisites:
25 hours of Cross Country Pilot in Command (an additional
25 hours is obtained during training)
Medical Third Class or better
Written Exam completed
Finish-Up
Course
Some AFIT students start their training elsewhere, but never finish. Our Finish-up Course is designed to quickly help you complete your training, often in as little as one weekend. As with our other programs, with our Finish-up Course we customize a training schedule for you in advance then work with you at your location and at your convenience. The Course is efficient and successful, because we constantly evaluate our pilots while they are being instructed, enabling us to tailor each program so that pilots can complete their training quickly.
Commercial Rating Course
AFIT’s customizable program and talented instructors can help you increase your rating from Private to Commercial (with the Instrument add on) in just 4 or 5 days.
Our Commercial Rating Course consists of 20 hours of flight time to meet the FAA-required maneuvers, and 20 hours of oral training to pass both the oral and practical exam. You must have the written exam completed to participate in this course.
Multi Engine Rating Course
This course is specially designed for pilots who want to get the Multi Engine Add on to their license.
AFIT’s Multi-Engine Rating Course can be completed in just 3 or 4 days. The course consists of 15 hours flight time and 15 hours of oral preparation. There is no written test needed to complete this program.
