10-Day Accelerated Instrument Rating

I recently completed a 10-day accelerated instrument rating with AFIT and had the privilege of training with Eddie. The experience was intense, challenging, and incredibly rewarding.

I went into the program thinking I was just there to earn my instrument rating—but I came out a significantly better pilot overall. Eddie didn’t just teach me how to fly instruments; he taught me how to truly fly. From holding altitude within 20 feet to staying relaxed and confident in the cockpit, I gained skills and habits that will stay with me for life.

Training in the busy LAX area added a whole new level of realism. I got hands-on experience with real-world IFR flying—approaches, holds, ATC communication, and managing complex airspace. It was demanding but exactly what I needed.

The program is not for everyone. It’s extremely intense and requires full commitment, focus, and mental endurance. That said, with the right mindset and a great instructor like Eddie, success is absolutely within reach. I passed my checkride on the first try.

If you’re ready to be pushed, learn fast, and come out the other side a better pilot, I highly recommend AFIT and Eddie. Worth every minute.
